Jeff Scott – President
Jeff has served Greening Nipissing as President for 2 years. He is an Assistant Professor of Education and teaches Science Methodology in the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University. He recently ended his sabbatical which took him to do research in China. Jeff is very involved in the community. He also volunteers with the YMCA of North Bay. Jeff’s background in education help us many times over in our environmental public education mandate.
About Jeff Scott 

Al Tomek - City of North Bay Representative
Al Tomek is another long standing member of Greening Nipissing. Al is a Graduate of Trent University with a Degree in Environmental Resources and Political Science. He has experience working for a number of municipalities in the waste management field. Al is our “go to” guy. If we have a question,  he has the technical knowledge to help us navigate through any issues that arise. Al is working for the City of North Bay as Waste Management Coordinator.

Rayna Vassileva
Rayna has recently joined Greening Nipissing. She holds a Master’s Degree in Telecommunications from the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. She has worked for 5 years as an IT specialist. She also taught Programming/Informatics in high school for two years. She volunteered her time and skills with Kramden Institute Inc. – a non-profit organization based in Raleigh, North Carolina and devoted to the efforts of bridging the “digital divide” by providing access to computers and Internet to underprivileged families/students in North Carolina. Rayna’s educational background touched upon environmental engineering. Rayna is focusing on our website and technology needs as well as project work and the issues of the Board.

Kim Vandermeer

Kim is our newest Board member. She has an Honours BA in Criminal Justice; Criminology, from Nipissing University. She is currently earning a graduate certificate in Business Management at Canadore College. Her hobby is to design and create garments. We appreciate her kindness, thoughtfulness and patience.

 

Gemma Victor
Gemma has a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University. She graduated from Nipissing University with her Bachelors degree in Environmental Geography and minor in Business Administration. Gemma volunteers around town in many capacities – Goodlife for Women, Girl Guides  and North Bay District Multicultural Centre. She brings energy and enthusiasm to all she does. She is helping us with our RAIN project. We warmly welcome our newest board member.

 

 

 

Staff

Vijanti Ramlogan Murphy
Vijanti has an Hon.BSc. from University of Toronto double major in Biology and Environmental Science. She has worked and volunteered with environmental organizations for many years. She is currently with the Greater Nipissing Stewardship Council Board of Directors. She has recently joined the Gateway Strings and is finding that an enjoyable challenge.

Shelly Rahme Sculpture

Chaylene Grieve-Saunders
Chaylene has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo double major in Sociology and Peace and Conflict Studies. She also has a practical background in ecological gardening, holding a certificate in Permaculture Design from the Kootenay Permaculture Institute. Previously, she has helped coordinate various environmental initiatives such as the Can Change Festival and the KW Urban Harvester community garden. On the side, and just for fun, she runs a small handmade hula hoop business
