Thanks to Chris Mayne, City Councillor, Vic Fedeli, Nipissing MPP, Barbara Laplante, Ontario Trillium Foundation volunteer, for coming out to World Water Day! The talks were terrific, opening with Dr. Dan Walters from Nipissing University putting together the importance of cooperation among communities and countries when it comes to water stresses such as climate change and population growth. Brennain Lloyd from Northwatch gave us the history and importance of wetlands and explaining how identifying llocally important wetlands would be helpful in ensuring our healthy waterways.

Bike Fix Station Opening Ceremony & Workshop
5:00pm – Speeches – Opening regards
5:30pm – FREE Workshop on how to use the stations by Kevin from Cycleworks
In August 2012 Greening Nipissing installed North Bay’s first ever Bike Fix Station – equipped with a bike stand and 8 common bike tools, as well as a FREE to use bike pump, you can fix your common bike problems whilst on the Kate Pace Way!
The opening ceremony will begin at 5 with an array of speakers. At 5:30 we’ll have Kevin from Cycleworks doing a free workshop for the public on how to use the stand. People should meet at the bike fix station unit located at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Stanley St; where the Kinsmen bike path and the Kate Pace Way meet in Lee Park.
Come on out and learn about this awesome new addition to North Bay’s cycling experience.
Why bike and use the bike fix stations? Biking is a great way to exercise while helping the environment. Simply taking your bike instead of driving places will reduce your carbon emissions and prevent run off and water contamination from gas and oil drops or spills. Biking will also improve your health and well-being!
