Canada Summer Jobs 2012 Environmental Outreach Intern

 

The Outreach Intern will work, in collaboration with Greening Nipissing to let the public know about programs and opportunities for the community to participate in and support our work. Environmental Outreach Intern – 30 hrs/week, 8 weeks, $10.25/hour. Start date July 2, 2012.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • are between 15 and 30 years of age;
  • have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • are Canadian citizens or permanent residents or have official refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not eligible); and
  • are legally entitled to work in Canada, according to relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

-          Excellent interpersonal skills

-          Communicates ideas and tasks effectively

-          Highly organized and time management focused

-          Creative thinker

-          Good writing skills

 

Roles and Responsibilities

-          develop a summer outreach plan

-          Schedule and execute at least 2 outreach presentation

-          Take photos at events and update social marketing avenues and on our website

-          Recruit a volunteer to assist them with distributing and posting event posters

-          Devise a list of businesses in the North Bay and area that would be interested in Greening Nipissing doing an informational lunch and learn talks

-          Attend meetings with other organizations to build partnerships and sponsorships

-          Contribute to our newsletter or e-blast

-          Write materials for website

The Board of Directors is the legal authority for Greening Nipissing.

As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization.

The Board meets once a month in the evening for 1.5 hours. They are required to participate in some other activity, such as attending an event on occasion, or participating in another committee, such as a hiring committee or outreach committtee. The Board of Directors guide the organization and help with networking with other organizations or just within the community.
